Top 5 Movies based on Video Games (Or Vice Versa)

We all know that movies based on games or games based on movies generally suck. However, a few manage to slip through the pile of mediocrity and make an enjoyable experience. So here is What's it Likes top 5 Movie/Game combinations...

5. Mortal Kombat (Movie)

Call it nostalgia or residual brain damage but I enjoyed the movie take on the Mortal Kombat games. Who could forget heartwarming moments like Goro taking a punch in the nuts or Raiden and his lisp? The special effects were pretty good for its time too (1995.) Now I know there are sequels to the movie but they are about as fun as taking an uppercut on the pit level.
I would probably get that checked out by a doctor...

4. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Game)

So this is a game based on a movie based on a comic book? The movie was very popular and Ubisoft had some big shoes to fill. Thankfully, Ubisoft made a 16-bit beat 'em up game in the fashion of River City Ransom. Deliciously oldschool with modern features, the game is 4 player co-op that takes you back to the glory days of gaming. The only downside is that playing single player was quite difficult.

3. Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children (Movie)

Ah the memories, this was my first ever Bluray. Advent Children took a different approach to movie games by making the film a sequel to the game. The film gives player closure on the events following the game. With cameos and appearances from a few FF7 characters, Square Enix delivers the ultimate fan service film.

2. Goldeneye (Game)

I don't think I even need a description here... But just to clarify I'm talking about the Nintendo 64 version. Goldeneye was the pinnacle of movie games, hundreds of games have tried to replicate the feel of it but haven't come close. Superb multiplayer and  a well thought out single player make Goldeneye 64 an absolute blast to play. The remake for the current gen consoles (Goldeneye Reloaded) comes close but still misses its mark. There was also a terrible cash in attempt where you play a bad guy called "Goldeneye" but it was terrible... avoid it like a STD.

1. Batman Arkham Series (Game)

Scoring perfect 10/10 reviews on all formats, Arkham City is the pinnacle of licensed movie games. Now I know some of you might say "Well, actually it's based on the cartoons series or comic books" but in fact it's heavily influenced by the Nolan series of Movies. Free-roaming as Batman, serving justice like its going out of fashion has never been more exciting. The combat system is unsurpassed and being able to fight more than 10 opponents at once is an awesome experience, making Arkham City our favorite game based on a movie.
